This is some information from our IT department:
We beta tested three Windows on a Mac scenarios in the Summer of 2006:
1) Bootcamp: complete install of XP on a secondary partition
2) Parallels: complete install of XP as a virtual machine
3) Fusion: complete install of XP as a virtual machine
All were completely satisfactory, options 2 and 3 provided for an
optimal, less intrusive user experience. Unfortunately each scenario
doubled the workload involved on each machine i.e. IT would have to
support 2 machines per user
We have since moved on to three further scenarios:
4) VMWare VDI: minimal number of virtual xp desktops hosted in the
datacenter
5) Windows Terminal Services: a single server exporting TMS to mac users
6) Citrix: a single server exporting TMS to mac users
We've currently only tested (4) which essentially replicates (3). It was
successful. I have high hopes for options (5) or (6) as the most
efficient solution but we have not got around to testing.
