We do the same thing in Tennessee. We focus primarily on emergent,
mostly volunteer-run organizations. As a result, these orgs (many in
their first few years, or months even, of operation) place a great deal
of emphasis on building community parnterships and relationships. Among
these is learning how to get services (in this case a truck and a
driver) donated to their organization. This worked well for Between
Fences and should go well with New Harmonies. Of course (Carol, this is
for you) we drill into their heads the importance of proper shipping and
safety with the exhibit. ;-)

We are "rookies" with MOMS exhibits; we are currently in the midst of
our
first MOMs tour. Long before host sites for Key Ingredients were
selected
the Council decided to make shipping the responsibility of the host
site.
All host sites selected knew in advance that they would have to pay for
and
arrange for shipping the exhibit to the next site. None of the sites
had any
problems with this and the exhibit has safely transited from host site
number one to host site number two (only four more trips to go!) The
parents
of one of our host site coordinators own a furniture business, so they
have
a big truck to carry Key Ingredients on one leg of the tour from one
end of
the state to the other.

Of course, we are a very small state . . .
