Good afternoon, fellow TexConLers - I've always preshrunk/rinsed the cotton
stockinette before using it to construct my own custom "sausages". The one
time I washed/dried a sausage, I put it in one of those net bags first to
keep it from wrapping itself into a knot inside the washing machine (front
loading). I then took it out of the net bag and tumble dried it for about 10
minutes in the dryer (no previous use of fabric softener ever in the dryer)
and then removed the sausage and allowed it to air dry overnight. No wadding
up of the polyester fiberfill (heat-set) occurred.

...Can the stockinette "sausages" (custom or pre-made) be washed & dried? We
occasionally do battle with moth infestations, & it would be helpful to know
that we weren't cross-contaminating if we were to re-use these. Will
tumble-drying thoroughly dry the polyester fill?...

Regards,
