We've had good luck using MySpace to promote our Between Fences tour
this year. It toured some pretty small places (pop. 400, pop 1000,
etc.), and I discovered that while traditional media formats aren't so
reliable in those places, half the town seems to make frequent use of
social networking sites. I'd guess that this is the same in Alaska.
