Hi Elizabeth.

I don't know anything much about tapestries per se, but I thought the "Alb t" might be short for Albert. A Google search did turn up a nineteenth century French artist Albert Fourie. "Apres" means "after" in French - ie - the tapestry is a copy of a painting or drawing by Fourie.

See http://www.artnet.com/artist/587290/albert-auguste-fourie.html

I hope this is of some help to get you started.

Dee

Subject: machine woven tapestry

I am presently cleaning a machine woven tapestry. In the bottom corner
are the words "D'après Alb (or All) Fourié" There is a small
superscript t after the Alb.

Does anyone have information about this type/kind of tapestry or can
suggest a reference for my clients.

Thanks for the help.

Elizabeth Richards
