Hm, mine doesn't do that - it sorts purely by date, no matter what the Type
is - is the Report Date field being filled in? I think that is what it might
key on for putting it in order and what shows up to the left of the detail
fields. If you only put the survey date, no date shows; you have to have the
Report Date for the date to show. I just usually use the same date in both
fields unless I know specifically when the object was examined vs. when the
report was actually written. I'm inserting a screen shot - let me know if it
doesn't come through and I can try it again, or email you directly.

Thanks, Diane! I did that, but noticed it still sorts alphabetically first
by report type, although they're no longer grouped. Our new conservator here
had been interested in purely by date, so that he could easily see the
progression of work on the object. I don't think it's a biggie, though. It
is still much improved and probably makes more sense to still have the
initial alpha sort, especially as the conservation history for an object
grows. Really appreciate your help!

have a great weekend,

Maja

Hi Maja,

It's just a click in DBconfig. Log in to DBconfig, on the configuration page
that appears, go to Conservation and click the plus - you should see
GroupBySurveyType. Right click to edit, and there will be a choice of Yes or
No to group by survey. If you change it to No, it should sort by date.

I was psyched when I found out you could do this as I never found the sort
by type that useful for our purposes.

Diane.

Hi All,

Requesting enlightenment on how to sort my Conservation Surveys by Date
instead of by Survey Type.

Thanks,
