Better late than never....
I've just read an interesting review of the exhibition and catalogue
of 'Tapestry in the baroque: threads of splendor' at the Metropolitan
Museum in New York and Palacio Real in Madrid held in 2007-2008.
Catalogue (same title) by Thomas P. Campbell, 563 pages, $75, $55
paperback. Promises to be very erudite. Has anybody read it?
Review:
Anthony Grafton, 'The wonders of the loom', The New York Book Review,
January 17, 2008, pp 56-60
The art historical/historical/cultural context is also discussed: good
article for non tapestry specialists to update their background
knowledge.
Late because I get a heap of NYBRs only once a year from a friend who
travels 3-4 months every other year.
Best wishes,
Jennifer Barnett
