Hello Emanuelle,

The National Gallery is in the process of selecting a Content
Manangement System to drive our public website; in future we intend to
integrate TMS with this system in order to publish information about the
collection to public audiences. (For historical reasons, our current
website is integrated with a bespoke database of information about the
collection that is separate from TMS)

We have used eMuseum since 2001 to publish information from TMS (and
since 2005 from our Photographic Dept database)to staff on our internal
intranet. We intend to continue increasing the range of internal
collection-related facilities and information that we make available to
staff via eMuseum.

I'd be glad to update you when we are further on with the project.

Gillian

Subject: Content Management System report by CMS watch

The Center for British Art is in the preliminary stages of looking at
various options in terms of publishing database for Internet
interface. I have heard about the Content Management System report
by CMS Watch which details many such databases. Does anyone know of
any other sources for publishing databases? We are also looking at
eMuseum. For the institutions which did not choose eMuseum, I am
curious to know what software they chose and if they are
"out-of-the-box" software or not.

Thank you.
