Cyndie Lack, a paintings conservator is trying to find information on 
the notation found on the inside of a tacking edge of a canvas, from a 
1938 painting.

The stamps says TICKEN CANVAS.  Prepared by Winsor & Newton, Ltd. 
London, England.

The canvas was suppled and prepared by Winsor & Newton and sold though 
an artist's supply retailer in Montreal  (C. R. Crowley)  Winsor & 
Newton did not put the Ticken stamp on the canvas, Crowley did.

Does anyone have a definition for TICKEN canvas?  The British artist's 
supplier part of the National Portrait Gallery website seems to use the 
term as a synonym for canvas, but Cinda wondered if it has a more 
specific meaning.
