Thanks Chad. TMS tech support suggested the same fix and it has helped. I can now use and add to the thesaurus normally without it crashing (hooray!). I'm still getting the error messages though and seeing some other weirdness. Christine, they have given us a script to run against the thesaurus database. Our IT guy is going to run it as I'm not savvy enough to try but contact TMS support and they can send it to you or email me off-list. It seems to be a common problem

Chad,

I, too, am experiencing this problem. I did as you suggested and made the change in the DB config, but it's still throwing the error.

I would like some help as to how to do the second step in going into the back end to fix the thesaurus entries.

Thank you.

Christine

Margaret, This is the result of a collation problem, and won't manifest unless you add more then 26 terms to a node.
In DB Config check the Value under System>Pattern.Alphas.List. The value should be "ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ" instead of "ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz" (without the quotation marks).
Changing the Pattern.Alphas.List will prevent anymore errors from occurring, but you will need to go into the back end to fix the thesaurus entries which are throwing the error. Gallery Systems should be able to help with that, or you can contact me directly.

and it also won't less us use at all the listings associated with the term it was on when it crashed. I've emailed TMS Tech Support but thought I would also check with the listserv to see if anyone had a similar problem.

Thanks

For the record, we experienced this problem too. I did not add more than 26 terms anywhere, so I'm not sure what caused it. Changing the value of the System>Pattern.Alphas.List fixed the problem for now, and I plan to run the script to fix the thesaurus on the back end soon...
