We find that printing to pdf eliminates these font corruption problems.

Jeremy,

Interesting comments regarding font corruption.

To which version of Crystal Reports did you upgrade and which version of TMS are you using?

We are running TMS 2017 and upgraded to Crystal Reports 2016.

After the upgrade we found that reports using the Arial font were corrupted when printed. The font displayed correctly on the screen, but was corrupted on the paper copy.

I had to change the report font to Calibri to resolve the problem. I used Calibri because it looks similar to Arial, the font of my choice for many years.

Also, GS recommended using " arial Unicode MS", which also worked for us.

If you have a font corruption problem with a later version of Crystal Reports, I'm concerned.

I don't know if this is the precise error you're having, but in TMS 2018 we've found that any report using Calibri font will replicate things like extra "f" s (ex. format becomes fformat) so I changed a bunch of our reports to use Arial instead. Its unclear if this is a Crystal -> TMS issue or just a Crystal issue since we also got a new version of Crystal recently, but most of us prefer Arial anyway.

A workaround I've found for PDF export oddities (even ones that exist in Adobe/Foxit) is exporting to Word and then saving to PDF, its an extra step, but if you truly need fonts that aren't playing well or have orientation issues then there ya go.

I would second that advice. Using the Crystal Report export feature to produce PDFs brings issue with certain fonts, and other formatting issues. If you have Adobe Acrobat writer or the Foxit PDF program installed, they will provide better and more consistent quality for users.

Hi All,
I would try ‘printing’ to a PDF instead of exporting to one.
That usually takes care of formatting problems we’ve had.

In the report in crystal look at the box ‘dissociate formatting page size and printer paper size’ which is located under page setup.
Make sure the box is checked.
That has also caused us problems and once the box is checked, the formatting is fixed.

Good luck,
Julie

Hi Adrian,

We use TMS 2018 and have not had that specific issue but we have encountered a problem with the fonts not displaying characters correctly and with images not aligning on the PDF export of our reports - these issues were not previously present.

If you hear of a solution I would be very interested in learning about it.

Sincerely,

Sylvia,

Subject: Reports

Hi dear friends,

I find myself in a bit of a conundrum. It rutns out that when we generate a reporte on TMS 2016, the orientation of the report, once we export to pdf, shoud be horizontally and in fact, it is true in many of our computers, but only in two of them, the report comes up in the wrong orientation (vertical position) and the data show up misplaced due this page orientation.

We reinstalled acrobat but it doesn't seem to make much difference.

¿Has anyone come across this and managed to resolve it?

Any idea or clue of what can I do to troubleshot this problem will be appreciated.

Thank you!
