The Guggenheim is getting ready to forge ahead into the world of the TMS
Crates assistant (version 9.2). While we're clear on the moving and
shipping - we're a bit unsure of where to begin with the data entry.

In addition to using the crates data in locations data entry and in
shipping, we want to be able to quickly look in TMS to see what crates
we have in inventory, and are not sure that there's a quick way to do
that. A related issue is how to track a crate that was made for a
specific work, but that the work is not currently stored in. We thought
about using components for these, but would ideally like to have all
crates in one place in the database. The only potential solution we've
come up with is to number those crates with the object numbers...For
example, with crate numbers something like: 
2001.21-Crate 1
2001.103-Crate 1 of 4

But, even so, are not sure how we'd quickly query for whether or not the
crate existed if the object is not currently stored in it.

Has anyone else brainstormed about these issues? Have you found fabulous
solutions?
