I use this program first, and then attach the images. Works like a charm!

I’ve found that an easy first step is to open the problem image in your editing program of choice (I use Photoshop). If the problem is a metadata issue, which was mentioned is often caused by default settings on an IPhone or other device, then the program will open the image in that orientation. You can then rotate the image in your program and re-save, which rewrites the image data and keeps it at the correct orientation.
If that doesn’t work, you might be facing a more complicated issue, but it’s a good way to start narrowing down the problem!

We have similar issues with orientation on some of our legacy images. I find that correcting the orientation in irfanview and regenerating the thumbnail fixes the problem.

Hi Fatima,
If the images were taken with an iPhone, it may be a metadata issue with the files. There are some good articles online about how to adjust the iPhone settings to turn off the bit that tells the image which way is up (on an iPhone but not to a PC) and how to strip the offending metadata from existing images.

Hello fellow TMSers!
Has anyone ever run into this issue with TMS thumbnails that the JPG looks fine before you attach it to TMS, but when you create a media record, the thumbnail appears upside down, and when you expand the image, that is also upside down? It is happening to only ONE of my users! If anyone has any ideas, I’d love to hear them!
Thanks!
