Thank you Jeff! Our IT department would like our Image Resources dept.
to move away from CD storage. Your input appreciated!

Hello all--
CDs and DVDs are not archival media and shouldn't be considered for
anything other than short-term use. They are physically unstable, prone
to de-lamination and other physical maladies which render them
completely unusable and which result in the loss of all information.
Even a single scratch can render data irretrievable. All digital storage
media have their drawbacks but those of CD/DVDs far outweigh any
possible benefits.

Subject: Media ?
Hi,
The AGO is interested in finding out if anyone is archiving images to
CD's & DVD's in preference of network storage and if you have archive
CD's, any plans to migrate off that media. Any and all opinions as to
the benefits (or not) of keeping images off-line on CD/DVD'S welcome.
Many thanks
Liana
