Whoops, sorry about the funky formatting yesterday. Here it is again...

Here are some great opportunities for free teacher workshops in the Keys. Follow-up with Charlene Wylie. Her contact info is at the bottom.

In case you haven't already received this on another list, please take note of the following workshops that Pennekamp is hosting this summer for environmental educators, teachers, volunteers, etc. Also, please feel free to pass the information on to anybody you think might be interested.

There is no charge to attend these workshops.

We still have openings in several of the workshops - just let me know as soon as possible.

All workshops are designed for teachers of any discipline or age group. These workshops are open to teachers, homeschool moms, and any environmental educator with any environmental group or organization.

While the workshops are free, lunch is on your own. However, a picnic pavilion will be available for brown baggers.

Space is limited, so you must register with Charlene Wylie, preferably via e-mail, as soon as possible. Project Learning Tree, Project Wild, and Project Everglades will only be offered once. The other workshops will be offered two times, once in July and once in August.

Project Learning Tree (maximum 35 people) * July 6 from 9:00 a.m. * 4:00 p.m.

Project Wild (maximum 12 people) * July 12 from 9:00 a.m. * 4:00 p.m.

Project Everglades (maximum 25 people) by South Florida Water Management District (the SFWMD no longer provides Project WET * this is the new one they provide now) * August 29 from 9:00 a.m. * 4:00 p.m.

Guided Canoe Trip on Mangrove Canoe Trail (maximum 8 canoes/kayaks whether single or double, so if everyone doubles up we can fit up to 16 people) followed by Seagrass Program (seagrass program is in Pennekamp theater, so we could seat 70 comfortably). Presenters are Judy McGraw (canoe trip) and Janice Duquesnel (seagrass) * Two dates: July 11 and August 4, from 9:00 a.m. * 3:30 p.m. You can sign up for the Seagrass program, even if you didn't get a seat on the canoe trip. Kayaks and canoes will be available for those that don't have their own.

Hardwood Hammocks and Mangrove Communities in Upper Keys by biologist Jim Duquesnel on Tamarind Trail, Mangrove Boardwalk and Port B (maximum 25 people) * Two dates: July 19 and August 16 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Plant ID class with Janice Duquesnel (maximum 18 people). Two dates: July 25 and August 22 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Meet at the sub-office in North Key Largo.

Glassbottom Boat Tour and Snorkel Tour (maximum 10 people) with marine biologist Chris Rader. July 18 and one in August (date not yet determined). 8:30 a.m. * 5:00 p.m.

Please call me if you have any questions.

Thanks.
