Hawai'i was named the "Sandwich Islands" by Captain Cook (after the Earl of
Sandwich).  But that's just an historical aside, as I think should be our
plantation flirtation with pineapple and sugar.

You may put down (though not official) that the state food of Hawai'i is
taro, perhaps the most significant food plant for Native Hawaiians (and the
source of poi).

Sorry for being a day late.  Yesterday was King Kamehameha Day, which
apparently is not yet observed as a state holiday by some of you.
