I'm only going to echo what everyone else has said, but I'll throw in my two
cents anyway. Virginia has a few sites that could handle the larger size,
but what we found with YT is that it was the larger communities that tended
to have that extra space, and the exhibit didn't work as well there--the
size of the space available seems to have been proportionate to the size of
the comunity, and really, the smallest sites and communities did MUCH better
than the larger ones in Virginia. I'd say 500 sq feet is a good size, and
tall ceilings don't seem to be a problem here--any bigger than that, and we
really limit where it can go and be effective.

know you surely had a grand time.
Speaking for Louisiana museums, I feel that 800 sq. feet is REALLY
pushing it for the host sites. I have seen a good number of Louisiana
museums in rural settings by now, and I can tell you that most of them
would have a hard time reconciling their space with the Yesterday's
Tomorrows space needs. It may have something to do with the fact that
most of them don't have auxiliary space to house "off-exhibit" stuff.

just a couple of quick notes and a question for you all --
Booking letters for upcoming MoMS tours were sent from the Federation
more than a week ago (the letter outlines opportunities for scheduling
any of the ongoing MoMS exhibitions as well as the newest exhibit,
Between Fences). The deadline for responses is December 15. If you
haven't seen this packet in your office, please let us know and we'll
see that one comes your way.
The MoMS staff met a couple of weeks ago; we had very exciting
presentations from SITES project directors for exhibitions currently in
development. As a result, we had a conversation regarding the optimal
size for MoMS shows, but thought we'd throw the question out for your
comments. Is 500 square feet too small (Barn Again)? Is 800 square feet
too big (Key Ingredients)? What's ideal for the exhibition hosts in your
towns? Forward your comments on- or off-line, we'd love to know your
preferences.
