Hello,

Can anyone recommend a suggestion and a source for a replacement screen for a woman's motoring hood?

The viewing screen had small rings inserted in it which had thread slipped through, which was then stitched to the silk. A thin metal frame gave the opening its needed support.

The original material may have been isinglass (c. 1900s) but it has not been tested.

Any ideas for recreating the viewing screen?

Thanks, Marie Schlag, The Studio for Textile Conservation, Scituate, MA
