First Annual Conference, 13-15 July 2004

Scientific Analysis of Ancient and Historic Textiles: Informing
Preservation, Display and Interpretation

The Conference, at the  Textile Conservation Centre, Winchester Campus,
University of Southampton, UK, will open at 1:30 pm on Tuesday 13 th July,
2004, and will close at 1:00 pm on Thursday 15 th July, 2004. Tours of the
Textile Conservation Centre and of Winchester Cathedral with its historic
vestments will be available at the end of the conference, on the Thursday
afternoon.

There will be five conference sessions:
1. Identification and deterioration of textile materials
2. Archaeological textiles
3. Learning from the present and the past
4. Characterising and monitoring textiles
5. Annotating textile biographies

The full programme, abstracts of contributions and a provisional schedule

Registration (details on-line) is required by 15th May.
