There is still time to register for the fourth biennial North American Textile Conservation Conference, "Tales in the Textile: The Conservation of Flags and Other Symbolic Textiles," co-sponsored by the New York State Museum and the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, November 6 - 8 .The three-day program (November 6-8) includes 23 papers, 9 posters, 2 receptions, a tour and discussion sessions. Additional tours are offered on the day before and the day after the conference.  The Keynote speaker will be Dr Laurel Thatcher Ulrich, Dr. Ulrich is a Pulitzer Prize winning author of " The Age of Homespun" and " A Midwife's Tale." She will be speaking on " Finding the Text in Textiles"

Paper presentations will take place at the New York State Museum in Albany, New York. 
The conference hotel is located two short blocks from the Empire State Plaza.

Storage Tour (12:00 - 6:30) $50.00
Historic Cherry Hill, the Albany Institute of History and Art, and the Rensselaer County Historical Society will be the stops on this afternoon tour of new and renovated storage facilities and exhibitions. 
Sunday, November 9
Saratoga Springs Tour (9:00 - 3:00pm, with 2:30pm airport drop-off) $50.00
Spend the day in Saratoga Springs, a city rich in history and well known for its Victorian charm and architecture. The tour will start at the National Museum of Dance and Hall of Fame, the only museum in the country devoted exclusively to professional American dance. The afternoon will include a guided tour of the National Racing Museum and Hall of Fame.
Hudson River Valley Tour (9:00 - 6:00) $75.00
New York's Hudson River Valley has been designated by Congress as a National Heritage Area. This daylong trip will provide participants with an opportunity to view some of the "landscape that defined America" and tour some of the Valley's great estates. Traveling down the east side of the river, the tour's first stop will be at Olana State Historic Site, the home of Hudson River School landscape painter Frederic Church. After a lunch stop on your own in the town of Rhinebeck, you will arrive at Staatsburg State Historic Site, formerly Mills Mansion, a Beauz Arts mansion of sixty-five rooms. After this visit, the bus will cross the Hudson River for a stop in Catskill at the Thomas Cole House, home of the founder of the Hudson River School of painting.
