For Geography Xrefs we are using:

Company Headquarters

Place of Origin (can be place used, sold, made, etc., this would be noted in
the Remarks field)

Place of Use 

Residence of Maker

Residence of Owner

Residence of Subsequent Owner

 

 

For Attributes we have four main Types: 

 

Classification - an extensive classification hierarchy to cover every object
in our collection, from furniture, to costumes, graphics, paintings, etc.
Many items have more than one classification entry to cover all the
categories that it might belong to.

Genre - mostly used for costumes; whether pants are for a male or a female,
etc.

Subject - Subject headings, based on Library of Congress terms; also using
local headings where needed

Project - assigning what project an object is being entered for enables us
to pull together statistics more easily, among other things

Hi

 

I am trying to properly set up our Thesaurus and Xrefs and am looking for
lists of what Types of text other mixed collection museums use for their
Attributes (material, subject, gender, etc.) and Geo Thesaurus Xref Types
(collected, found, excavated, etc.). If anyone is willing to share these we
would be most appreciative.
