The import feature in Thesaurus Manager is for lexicons formatted using Gallery Systems proprietary format, i.e. it's only for importing lexicons that they provide. I have no idea why they didn't use a standard format like SKOS, so we could leverage this feature for importing anything.

If the data is structured using SKOS, I have had success importing the lexicons using nothing but SQL. The Morgan has the Language of Bindings thesaurus and some RBMS thesauri using this process.

Hi,

we are doing this at the moment (transitioning to TMS, our inhouse thesaurus lives in another software tool; it’s been imported now but there is still work to do as we need an update mechanism) – GS did it and though the thesaurus is built by ISO standards, it apparently took quite a lot of scripting from their side. So I suppose there is no easy way, especially when I look what is involved in updating the Getty thesauruses (https://nam02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fyoutu.be%2Fx2BGiuMLjko&data=05%7C01%7CTMSUSERS%40si-listserv.si.edu%7Cecd8645037564b96a40a08da387e6a0b%7C989b5e2a14e44efe93b78cdd5fc5d11c%7C0%7C0%7C637884413024706867%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C2000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=E8xh05nXzffjLmLjlQCkEegNNb5GphEGcwLAyg89AfU%3D&reserved=0<https://nam02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fyoutu.be%2Fx2BGiuMLjko&data=05%7C01%7CTMSUSERS%40si-listserv.si.edu%7Cecd8645037564b96a40a08da387e6a0b%7C989b5e2a14e44efe93b78cdd5fc5d11c%7C0%7C0%7C637884413024706867%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C2000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=E8xh05nXzffjLmLjlQCkEegNNb5GphEGcwLAyg89AfU%3D&reserved=0>)

Hello TMS users,

Looking for advice on how to import an external thesaurus to TMS to use alongside the AAT?
We have some inhouse developed ones that have grow organically but I am interested in using an external vocab list.

Has your organisation does this, I’d love to chat to you.
