Frances,
Your "Silver Bullet" sounds absolutely wonderful. I, too, am not very successful designing (or modifying)Crystal Reports --having little time to work on this -- so we might look into commissioning Dimitry to do this for us also. Thanks for sharing...

I'll bite. We just recently commissioned a custom report from Gallery
Systems we're referring to as The Silver Bullet. It is essentially the
detail view of the Fact Sheet, including attributes and artist alpha-sort.
The format is columnar, and it is intended for export. The purpose is to
provide our casual users with a quick and easy way to grab-and-go. They can
conduct simple queries in TMS, export The Silver Bullet to Excel or Access,
and do further sorting and filtering to their heart's content. Then, they
can use the table to design reports or mail merge documents. I can throw in
more fields as needed, confident that Dimitry has already linked all the
tables correctly, etc.

Our power users were tired of designing Crystal Reports on the fly for so
many users, and Crystal has proven too difficult for our casual users to
learn. The Silver Bullet has enough fields to satisfy routine data needs,
leaving us free to design the more difficult reports (or actually free to be
registrars, as nature intended!).

I'll let you know how it turns out.

Frances

I joined this listserv recently, but I have received no messages. Is the
group just very very quiet?
