I favor creating an exhibition history record linked to the object for exhibtiion related information; and a bibliographic citation record for the exhibition catalogue. Although, I have recently discovered that some departments record exhibition catalogue information in their exhibition history and not in their bibliography (in paper files). This means, I will be turning this over to a group of curators to make a descision on a standard way across collections to record this information. My role will be to facilitate the discussion and help them understand why a standard way of doing it is a good thing. So far we've been pretty successful (albeit slow) with this process on the provenance front. Hope that helps, Amy Noel CIS Applications Manager The J. We are having a question as to whether we should add the museum that "produced" the exhibition (but is not necessarily the publisher of the catalog) as a bib constituent and, if so, what role to assign them. Has anyone dealt with this question or have any suggestions? Thank you. Ella Rothgangel Collections Database Administrator Saint Louis Art Museum
