Hello to all - Question - we are in the final stages of our conversion, and need some advice. We have a field, Object Name, in which a fairly high percentage of the terms in that field are preferred AAT terms (I'd be willing to bet at least 97-98% are preferred and/or alternate AAT terms). I've mapped this field to the attributes section of the database. However, it's understood that this data cannot 100% be accurately linked to the AAT during conversion, since one can't be sure if, for instance, "painting" links to the correct facet of the AAT (i.e. is it a process/technique?, an object? etc.), which leaves me with the job of linking the terms to the AAT myself. However, I do have the option of purchasing a fairly expensive, specially designed utility to assist me in this. My question is this - have any of you had this problem? How easy/hard is it to link terms from the local authority, to the AAT? How? Is it a case of needing to individually link every 6,000 occurrances of "screen print" one at a time, for each record where the term occurs? Or, is there an easier way? Should I buy the utility? Thanks for any/all responses, recommendations, opinions, etc. Allison .................................................................. .................................................................. the warhol: Allison A.
