The Philadelphia Museum of Art is now using TMS bar codes to track and change locations for a move to off-site storage. 3,910 objects have new locations entered via bar code as of this morning. I believe we were the guinea pigs, that is, the first to actually enter change of locations into TMS via scanned bar codes. Be glad to discuss details with anyone interested. The registrars love this. They are tracking the moves from current storage to conveyance, to truck, to off-site storage loading dock, to new storage room, and to final storage destination. We are also thinking of RDIF for at least some collections, but have not pursued this option yet. Jenny Wilker Avanti! Is anyone using barcodes in TMS? The Research Library at the Getty Research Institute is going to begin using TMS to manage its special collections and would like to use barcodes to track exhibition items.
