Frances- I just created a new Query Group (that I called Deaccession Proceeds) that includes Amount applied Department (of deacc object) Entered date Login ObjectNumber (of new object) Tranaction Date Use of Proceeds Remarks So we can now search for objects that have been funded by deaccessioning proceeds. We also would like a real link between the deaccessioned object record and the new object record. So we could edit the two related records more easily. I am very interested to see that you all are using TMS for this. I think most of our institutions are involved in "very aggressive deaccession program(s)"! With respect to the use of proceeds function: I can not for the life of me determine if a link is actually established between a deaccession record and a new object record via the New Object Number field. We would love to see linked deaccessions as Related Records in the new Object Record. Perhaps this has been addressed in the upgrade. We also have trouble querying when many deaccessions fund one new acquisition, and can not find the New Object Number field in our configuration/query group hierarchies. We are probably missing something obvious: does New Object Number appear in the deaccession query groups for other users (our version is 9.15)? As it stands, we rely on a report to gather the data together, since New Object ID is a field available to Crystal Reports. Frances R. We use them to report book value comparisons with sales proceeds, and as an accounting function. We record sale date, lot number, Auction house, approval information, etc. reasons for deaccessioning, etc. -----Original Message----- From: The Museum System (TMS) Users [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Wilker, Jenny Sent: Tuesday, May 03, 2005 4:26 PM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: deaccessioning Hello all- We are wondering how you find the deaccessioning and use of proceeds functions in TMS? Do you use them? Do they meet your needs? Do you have any tips you would like to share?
