Hi Gillian - Do you know about Display Mode/Hierarchy view in the Constituents module? You could try creating a record for the parent and the child institutions, and create a parent/child relationship via the Hierarchy view, and link the child institutions to the parent institution. That might be a solution, or at least a start to a solution. For example, how do you deal with the National Trust or English Heritage, both of which manage numerous historic houses and collections that lend or borrow objects? Or a local government authority that manages several museums? Or the Smithsonion Institute? Do you make only one Constituent record for the parent organisation and if so, how do you record the fact that you are lending to one of its 'children'? Or do you make a separate record for each 'child' organisation and if so, how do you record its relationship to the parent organisation and how do you report, for example, the number of loans you have made to the parent over the last ten years? Anyone else grappled with this issue? Many thanks, Gillian Gillian Essam Collection Information Manager The National Gallery Trafalgar Square London WC2N 5DN Tel: 020 7747 2543 Fax: 0207747 2472 email: [log in to unmask] --------------------------------------------------------------------- Velazquez Until 21 January 2007 - book now http://www.nationalgallery.org.uk/exhibitions/velazquez/tickets.htm Open daily 10am to 6pm, Wednesdays and Saturdays until 9pm Sign up for the latest news, offers and exclusive competitions from the National Gallery by clicking on this link http://www.nationalgallery.org.uk/what/news/subscribe.htm
