At the Harn, the Registration department has administrative privileges as permitted by TMS. The backend tasks are managed by the IT dept. The IT department assists TMS admins when possible; we try to compliment Registration in areas where there are IT implications. We view the IT department responsible for providing services, in this case, database services ensuring that TMS is available, maintained, upgraded, functional, supported, and backed up. How TMS is administered (by Registration) and used is mostly up to the Registration department with IT input when necessary.

Subject: TMS management: Registrar or IT?

Hi all,

Quick survey for TMS managers:

Do you report to Registrar? Collections Management? Curatorial? Information Technology?

What are the pros and cons of managing TMS from within each of these different departments?

Thanks for any feedback -

Happy Holidays!
