What OS is the new computer running (i.e. Vista or XP w/ SP2 minimum) and what OS is your computer (successful logon) running? Is the new machine 32-bit or 64-bit? Off the bat, it sounds like a permissions problem – depending on system specs.

Unfortunately we get the same results.

We haven't encountered exactly this, but something a little bit similar. Try this:

Delete the user from both TMS configuration and from the TMS users list in SQL, then recreate their account.

Yes, the network & SQL logins match.  Yes, the person is logging into the machine & TMS as the same domain user account.  Yes, we are able to login as the admin account & ODBC connection is working fine.

What is very strange is TMS works fine on my PC with their logins.  We are using the same ODBC version & same installation package for TMS.

On the new laptops, we have to change the SQL login in Management Studio to a sysadmin (under Login Properties > Server Roles) to get it to work with the appropriate TMS access.  When this option is unchecked, it doesn’t work.  When we try logging in as DOMAIN\UserName without the sysadmin SQL level, we can login to the application but they have zero TMS access levels.

Thank you so much for your assistance.

Do the network and SQL logins match?  Is this person logging into the machine as "user" (for instance) and TMS as "user?"   Can you log into TMS when logged into the machine as administrator?  If not, test the odbc connection in Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Data Sources.

Subject: Login Issue

We are having some challenges logging into TMS.  Our user received a new computer & hasn’t been able to work on the system since.  I have uninstalled the program & re-installed it with the same results.  We are getting the following error:

Cannot login as this user, only System Administrators can emulate other users.

Has anyone had this issue before?  If so, any advice on how to get rid of this?

Is there a searchable database available to search for errors or common tech support issues?

Thanks,
