REGISTRATION ASSISTANT

The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum is seeking a Registration Assistant for
Collection Inventory.  The Registration Assistant is part of a team
conducting a comprehensive inventory of the collection of the Solomon R.
Guggenheim Foundation.  This position is primarily responsible for entry
of data from Registrar inventory worksheets into the museum's
collections management database, The Museum System (TMS). The
Registration Assistant works closely with the Inventory Registrar,
Associate Registrar for Collection Management, Director of Registration,
and TMS Specialist to ensure consistency and accuracy of data. 

This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain proficiency in a
museum collections management database, build research skills, and learn
about collections management practices.

Position Summary:
The Registration Assistant is part of a team conducting a comprehensive

The Museum System (TMS). The Registration Assistant works closely with
the Inventory Registrar, Associate Registrar for Collection Management,

Supervisory Responsibilities:
There are no direct reports associated with this position.  

Key Responsibilities:
*	Data entry from inventory worksheets
*	Object and collections management research
*	Documentation of procedures
*	Alpha and numeric sorting and filing of documents
*	Regular participation in Inventory and Collections meetings
*	Scanning images and editing digital image files.

Qualifications and Requirements:
*	Bachelor's degree, plus Museum Studies or related graduate-level
coursework preferred.
*	Understanding of and/or direct experience with: professional
museum standards for cataloguing artworks, collections management
practices, registration methods.
*	Attention to detail and willingness to ask questions.
*	Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and
writing skills. 
*	Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
*	Computer proficiency including experience with The Museum System
(TMS) or other museum database software, Photoshop, and Excel desired.
