Here at Leeds we use 'Disposed' in object
status, we tick the Virtual Object box and have a location of 'Disposed
of' just to be clear we add information in the notes of how we disposed
and where it went, but we always make sure the record is as complete as
possible before we do so.

As it is often an exhibition copy (which
we would have entered as a component), rather than the entire artwork,
that is destroyed, we use a Location of "destroyed" for the relevant
component.

Hi Alexis:
We use an Object Status
called: Disposed, and we write an explanation of the situation in the Source
Notes field.

Subject: Destroyed "Objects"
Hello,
A quick question: When “objects”,
which have TMS records, need to be destroyed (such as in the case of reproductions
of objects created for exhibition purposes), how do you indicate this is
TMS?
We are considering indicating “deaccessioned”
in Object Status, but I am not sure it is specific enough without
further explanation in another field. Does anyone use Object Status
“destroyed”, or something else?
We do not want to delete the object
records themselves.
Thanks
