Thanks, Chad!
I will look for that Collective Imagination presentation right
now.
BTW I think ICONCLASS is making a comeback, or reinventing
themselves; they have a brand new browser and a new platform. If people are
interested I’ll let them know what I find out. Seems like a good system
for Christian and Classical subjects, particularly narrative themes that are
hard for catalogers to summarize in a quick and consistent manner.

Emily,
Iconclass was part of the data standards for Manuscripts at the Walters Art
Museum, but when I was reworking the style guide from ARGUS to TMS, I was told
that Iconclass was more or less a thing of the past. While some such data lived
in TMS, there was no active development or work with it during my time there.
I believe that there was a presentation about Iconclass at Collective
Imagination 2009. You may want to check the presentation archive on the GS
support site.

Subject: ICONCLASS?
Greetings,
I keep coming across references to ICONCLASS (http://www.iconclass.org/) in articles
discussing indexing subjects and iconographic themes. Just wondering if any of
you are using it, or are attempting to capture this kind of information in any
systematic way.
Thanks,
Emily
