Hi all,

Based on the feedback that we got on line and off line from my previous inquiry about a possible MoMS exhibition on the Civil War Home Front, we have decided to pursue it as well as other ideas for MoMS next exhibition.

Our plan is to develop 4 or 5 viable exhibition proposals this Spring and then send them later this Summer to all the councils and the small town museums and libraries that have hosted a MoMS exhibition in the past couple of years.

We are developing some ideas from exhibitions or projects in development within the Smithsonian that we think could be adapted to a MoMS exhibition, but we would also like to get some feed back from you. Have you seen an exhibition recently that you think has all the elements that would make a good MoMS exhibition?  Or, do you have an idea for an exhibition concept that you think is viable?  We would love to hear your ideas.

Remember the trick to a good MoMS exhibition is that it must be national in scope but have a strong local connection to any town in any state across the country. We have also learned through the years that one word concepts are easiest to promote—barns, food, music, etc.

I am eager to hear your ideas and reactions from your colleagues on the listerv. So, please don’t be shy!

Carol
