Stephanie,
This is our second run of New
Harmonies (“The NH2r”?). We were quite pleased with our scholar
from round 1 and will be using him again. He, Dr. Chris Goertzen, is on the
faculty of the music department at The University of Southern Mississippi and
has a deep interest in fiddle music from present to Old World origins. He also
performs, mostly on guitar but is also a trained classical violist. Credentials
aside, he has a contagious personality and works exceptionally well with our
local host sites in developing and participating in their local programming.
This is equally, if not more important, than the other stuff in my opinion and experience.
Happy pickin’
David

Subject: New Harmonies Scholar
Hello all,
Our state is hosting New Harmonies in 2012, so I’m in
the process of searching for scholars and host sites. For those states
who have already had the exhibit, is it best to look for scholars with Music
Ed. backgrounds or is there another discipline I should be focusing on?
Thanks for your help!
Stephanie
