Hello!
We use
rendition numbers as follows:
We use a Prefix
to determine the kind of media: IMG for images, VID for video, AUD for audio,
DOC for documents, and PHY for physical transparencies.
We then use the
object number, followed by a series of suffixes that denote if it’s an
alternate view, a verso, a detail, a conservation image, etc.
It seems to
work ok for us, and my OCD is happy when all the numbers match up. J
I’m not sure
how useful it is, except that I can query the object number in media and
hopefully have all the media show up there.

Does anyone use a different numbering convention? I admit, perhaps revealing great ignorance, that I’ve never needed to run a query based on rendition #. I’m wondering how rendition #s can be particularly useful & whether modifying the default numbering format is worth considering.
