Assistant Registrar for Collections Management, The J.  Paul Getty Museum 
Six month limited term position
 
Responsibilities:
Maintains data in the collections information system, using TMS (the Museum System) and assists with collections management activities in the areas of accessioning, deaccessioning, inventory control, location tracking, collection moves, approval history and value history. Records and monitors relocations of objects within the Museum.  Enters and proofs new records, including acquisitions, loans, temporary deposits and special exhibitions.  Undertakes data cleanup and proofing projects as needed.
 
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree  in art history (or related field), * 1-2 years of museum registration experience or some combination of experience and education that would develop skills in collections management.  Experience with an automated collections management system and Windows based software packages preferred * Good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills * Reading and conversation skills in one foreign language preferred
