Hello all-
Now that we have the ability to classify locations as internal and external in TMS 2010, I am interested to know if anyone has developed some kind of data entry standards for this new feature? Do you add every museum to which your institution loans objects as an external location? Or have you created “dummy” constituent records for external locations such as “Out on loan” or “Returned to owner?”
Feel free to respond off list! I’m just looking for ideas as to how we should set this up; I know it’s largely dependent on the size of the institution and how much your objects travel, but any ideas would be appreciated. Our locations were somewhat messy when we migrated databases three years ago, so I’d like to ensure that our standards from this point on are consistent and manageable.
