The stiches (running  and coutching stiches) are bether in the hang direction. Good methods against the stress are: short exhibition time, not vertically hanging.

Would like information on restoring a home woven wool quilt that is going to hang for a few months.
What would be your preference?
to apply repair stitches in a horizontal - weft direction or vertical - warp direction? or both.
It seems that a hanging quilt is going to have a lot of stress in the vertical direction, possibly uneven stress.
Thanks for your input,
Kristine Herman
