Happy New Year to all,

The Center for Creative Photography began using TMS this past year and we
are about to initiate a project to digitize at least part of our archive,
which holds approximately 5 million items. We are wondering how other
institutions are using TMS to import and organize these kinds of projects.

As far as moving large numbers of records into TMS, we have looked into
using the TMS Media Importer Tool as one option, which would seem to allow
us greater control over some of the metadata collected during the imaging
process. On the other hand, it may be more efficient to create Objects to
represent certain levels of containers (e.g. box or folder) and then drag
and drop the media assets into those Object records and not worry about
detailed metadata.

Thank you in advance for any experience or insight you may be able to
provide about working with large imaging projects and TMS.

Edward
