Dear All

A quick update on the UK and Ireland TMS User Group meeting that was held recently in Leeds.

Thanks to Jon and Sascha for organising and facilitating, and thanks to all who attended.  There were representatives from Central Saint Martins, Tate, Sheffield Industrial Museum, Henry Moore Foundation, Aberdeen Art Gallery and Museums, Museums Sheffield and Leeds Museums and Galleries.  It was a good mix of presentations from those of us who use TMS and what is going on / planned by Gallery Systems.

Following introductions I presented on Leed's recent experiences in upgrading to TMS 2012, and what we were planning on working on in the future. We have a difficult internal IT market place which makes things complicated and costly and slows us down considerably. Alistair from Museums Sheffield gave us an insight into the uses of thesaurus, how to build them up and how to make them work for you and your end users.  Courtney and Madeleine from Tate gave us a really interesting outline of their projects especially with regard to Archives and TMS.  This stimulated a lot of discussion, and is something we are looking at taking further.

We heard about Service Pack 2 for TMS2012, which amongst other things is going to fix the crystal report bug that has been frustrating a number of us.  None of us had been able to go to the last CI so it was good to hear about the plans for TMS 2014. All in all it was a really useful day.

The next group meeting will be in October.

Kind regards
Jen
