Hi Kay and Terry,

We use year, accession group, object number, so 2013.1.1
For components we assign them by letter, so 2013.1.1a, 2013.1.1b etc.

When it comes to mounts/frames we assign the object as "a" and then the mount/frame as "b" or whatever the last letter is if the object has multiple components.

Let me know if you have any questions.

We do not yet have a numbering system established for our mounts or frames. I would also appreciate suggestions for this as I now think we will use the components field to track these objects.

Hello Christa and Kay, What numbering system/format are you using for your mounts and frames?

Hi Kay,

We have been using the components field to track mounts and old frames for a couple of years. It's really helpful especially since we store mounts separately and we can log their location in TMS separate from the object's location.

Hi Kay,

We started tracking mounts under components a few years ago and it's worked out really well. We do the same for special frames that we want to track with the object.

Our staff wants to start tracking, within TMS, information on mounts made for specific works in the collection. We are considering tracking it as a component, but would love to get recommendation from those of you using TMS for this purpose.
