This has been annoying us for years as well. It appears to be in the right orientation in windows and a variety of other software. When it goes into TMS it flips on its side. We're usually using Canon powershot and have experimented by shooting all images in the same orientation, but we still get one here and there that flips and can't figure out why. Usually we can rotate in any number of software 360 degrees and then it will look right in TMS. I sent Brian at GS some images last week to hopefully get to the bottom of this, but haven't heard back yet.

We’ve also noticed this with some image files that we drag and drop into TMS 2012.  It seems to happen most consistently to photos taken off iPhones.   When we open them in Adobe Photoshop or Bridge they have the same orientation as TMS.  When we open the same files in Windows Explorer or Photo Gallery, or ingest them  into our DAM, MediaBin, the orientation is 90 degrees different (which we consider the correct orientation).  Actually we had one  that was rotated 180 degrees.  Very odd.  We submitted a ticket to TMS support.  It seems different software interprets Pixel Height and Width differently.

I do this, too, Claire.  And it’s a d****d nuisance!  I was hoping for a quicker fix.

Hi Christine,

I had exactly the same problem! I find if I open the original jpg direct from the drive and rotate it there is usually fixes the problem. I have no idea what causes it though.

Does anyone else have this problem?

When I click and drag an image (jpg) to the Media tab in the Object record, the orientation of the image appears rotated 90 degrees CW from the original image in the folder from which I am dragging.  This does not occur in every instance, and I cannot figure out how this happens to some and not others.  Although I can rotate the zoomed image once I have attached it to the record, the thumbnail remains in the rotated position.

Any help for this?

Christine
