This search is pretty tricky outside of SQL. The easiest way to do this is to use a Package.

Make an Constituent Package with all the records that have a Gender Attribute set (ThesXrefType = 'Gender') and give it a meaningful name, like "Has Gender"

Now exclude that package from your result set, either by searching for Constituents where the PackageName IS NOT "Has Gender" (or whatever you named the package) or using the "Remove List From Current Selection" action in Package Explorer.

Hello TMS Users,

I need to search constituents for records where attribute type does not exist.  Specifically, I’m trying to identify records that don’t contain “gender” as an attribute type in order to update those records.  Does anyone know how to isolate records that don’t contain a particular attribute type?

Many thanks.
