Museum Textile Services and the Campbell Center for Historic Preservation studies are pleased to announce a new, three-day workshop on Safe Display of Flat Textiles, which will be held at the JFK Presidential Library and Museum, Boston, MA, from July 29-31, 2014 Get 20% off until June 20th with the coupon code BASIC2014 or 10% off thereafter with the code NEWSLETTER10. This workshop is designed for collections staff and conservators seeking additional training. Students must have excellent hand skills and experience working with museum artifacts. Sewing skills are preferred but not required. The three-day workshop will begin with choosing textiles that are good candidates for display. Basic documentation and surface cleaning will then be taught. Attendees will learn hands on how to create a slant mount and a pinable mount for display of small to medium-sized textiles. Magnetic and Velcro hanging systems will then be created for larger textiles. Other display solutions, such as pressure mounting and framing, will also be presented for comparison.  This workshop is one of the first in a series offered by the Campbell Center away from its Mount Carroll, Illinois, campus.
