Senior Database Manager (Regular Full-Time)
Registration & Collection Information

Reporting to the Head of Collection Information, the Senior Database Manager will maintain the collection database (TMS) and Digital Asset Management database and all utilities/software that are utilized by or support these systems

Some duties include: Act as the primary liaison to the IS department for maintaining the optimum performance of the software and underlying platforms. Oversee all database upgrades/updates. Provide support for the extraction and publishing of data from TMS and the DAMS to LACMA’s website. Create advanced Crystal Reports and SQL queries per staff requests and project needs. Write advanced SQL update and insert statements for large data entry/cleanup projects. Oversee the creation of basic Crystal Reports and SQL statements by Collection Information staff. Manage the creation and organization of user profiles and security groups in the database. Report issues and work with database vendors to resolve problems, answer inquiries, or coordinate training as necessary. Provide support and training to staff through individual instruction and classroom sessions. Create documentation of system administrator procedures/functions and user manuals.

The qualified candidate will have a degree in Library Science, Art History, Museum Studies, or related field. Minimum 2 years of experience with TMS in a management or administrative capacity. Advanced knowledge and proven ability to write advanced SQL queries and Crystal Reports. Extensive knowledge of museum cataloguing data standards. Experience with user support, training and documentation. Experience with project management is strongly preferred. Detailed oriented and accustomed to utilizing a variety of tools to track and report the status of projects. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently with limited supervision.
