Assuming you are changing it to all the same credit line, you could also use the Accession Lot tool. Helpful if you don't have access to your server. If not part of the same number lot, you could create a faux lot with an Object Package, and as long as the items aren't part of another Accession Lot, you can do the update - just being sure that the credit line is the only thing you update so you don't change anything in the original records.

If you're fixing a problem, say a typo was copied to 100 records, you can use the Search & Replace option: query up the batch you need to fix, go to Maintenance > Database > Search and Replace.

If you're needing to overwrite a bunch of different things, or insert missing info, you'd use a SQL update (or ask your IT or database manager to). Let's pretend this is a whole set of photos whose Object Numbers are something like PhotographsABC.1, PhotographsABC.2, PhotographsABC.3 ... PhotographsABC.1000. Here is what your SQL would look like:

Update Objects
Set CreditLine = ' your correct credit info '
where ObjectNumber like 'PhotographsABC.%'

Subject: Batch Updating Credit Lines

Hello All,

Has anyone successfully batch-updated object credit lines in TMS on records that were previously made? If so, could you let me know what your process was?

Thank you!

Sara
