Hi Chad,

1. Extensis Portfolio (11). We don’t plan to upgrade to the most recent version as we don’t have a programmer on staff who can work with the Portfolio API. We are waiting to see how Media Studio looks to decide if we will stay with Portfolio or migrate to Media Studio. In the meantime, after upgrading to TMS 2014, we plan to do test uploading our images into TMS via the Media Loader.

2. Tombstone data, object rights and copyright data

3. We do both, each TMS data field is mapped 1:1 to a corresponding Portfolio field, and we also concatenate several fields into a single description field.

4. We based our Portfolio fields on CDWA along with a few locally defined fields.

5. Yes, we embed image-specific data and some basic object data into the images.

Like the Walters, we’ve also just recently completed a one-way integration from TMS-to-Portfolio, and are currently in the process of putting our collection online using data and images from TMS and Portfolio.

I’d be happy to share any additional information if you’re interested.

Subject: TMS data in your DAMS

Hello all!

I am interested in information from anyone who has integrated TMS with a DAMS for supplying or embedding object related information into either the media record or the media file.

Specifically:

  1. Which DAMS are you using?
  2. What object information is TMS supplying?
  3. Are you articulating your data in different fields, or populating a single field with a tombstone block of text?
  4. Are you conforming to a standard, such as Dublin Core, VRA Core, IPTC? If so, which standard?
  5. Are you embedding the data into the image files?
Thank you in advance for your feedback. ~Chad
