Dear colleagues

 

Many thanks for your responses so far about running TMS 2016 under Windows 7! These have been useful, and will help shape our upgrade plans.

 

To summarise:

·         1 site finds TMS 2016 runs faster under Windows 7 than TMS 2012

·         2 sites find it runs about the same as TMS 2012

·         1 site finds it about the same as TMS 2014 (which they found slower than TMS 2012)

·         2 sites find it slower than TMS 2012

So the weight of experience so far is that TMS 2016 is likely to run at the same speed as or slower than TMS 2012 under Windows 7 – but it does run.

 

Suggested reasons for slower speeds have been:

·         The need to run TMS 2014 and 2016 across two separate servers

·         Network speeds (suggested fix: ensure your network switches are Gigabit rather than 100 Megabit)

·         Out-of-date ODBC driver (the version you should be using depends upon your SQL Server installation)
