Hi Rupert -

We just upgraded last week from TMS 2012 to TMS 2016 on Windows 7 machines. As part of that process we also went from SQL Server 2008 to 2014. So far everything has been very smooth and we have not noticed any performance issues.

That's disconcerting news, Richard.

We are currently running TMS2014 with Windows 7 workstations and it feels too slow. We were hoping TMS2016 would help  speed things up! (We are working on the upgrade process now.)

Are you comparing TMS2016 with TMS2014, or with an earlier version? TMS2014 introduced the separate web components / thesaurus manager server, and I think using a second server may have slowed some things down compared to TMS2012 and before.

This reminds me that I'm hunting for:


(1)    What's a good way to run a automated test that checks the speed of a TMS system from the client end in a consistent way, so that we can measure before and after we make changes to see if the change helps or hurts. I set up some tests with a keyboard macro (AHK) but it's not easy to work with.


(2)    How can we figure out where the bottlenecks are coming from - the client, the network, the server(s)?

Hello Rupert,
We are running TMS2016 on Windows 7 since July, and I must say it doesn't work as fast as it did in previous versions, that were also run on W7.
In fact, one has to be patient even to navigate from one record to the other.
As to what may cause this, I haven't a clue. We're relying on our TMS-provider C-IT to come up with a solution quickly.

Apart from the speed, I'm quite happy with this version though.
